Rainbows Return Home, Set For Five-Game Series With Gonzaga

Corey MacDonald pitched a complete game in UH's first win this past week
Series Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team will look to notch its first home win this week when it hosts Gonzaga in a five-game series beginning Friday, Mar. 8 at Les Murakami Stadium. The 'Bows will play Friday and Saturday at 6:35 p.m., Sunday at 1:05 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday again at 6:35 p.m.

UH (1-12) got off the schneid this past week with their first win of the season. On Day 3 of the UNLV Rebel Classic, the 'Bows beat Loyola Marymount, 8-3, on the heels of a complete game by Corey MacDonald. He allowed just one earned run and scattered just five hits as UH atoned for a loss to LMU just two days earlier. The team however returns home after losing 14-1 to UNLV on Monday, its worse loss since 2009.

Alan Baldwin is batting a team-high .280 and right behind him is Adam Hurley at .277 and Marc Flores has come on as of late. He batted .333 in four starts at the Rebel Classic with four runs, one RBI, and one double.

The matchup will be the return trip by Gonzaga in a home-and-home series. The Rainbows traveled to Spokane last year where they were swept by the Bulldogs in four wintry weather games. The two teams last played at Les Murakami Stadium in 2010 where Hawai'i won two of the three games.
