Women’s Golf Completes ‘Anuenue Spring Break Classic

KAPALUA, Maui – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team completed the third and final round of the 'Anuenue Spring Break Classic, Wednesday at Kapalua's Bay Course with a 302 to finish in 17th place.
 
Leading the Rainbow Wahine was senior Ka'ili Britos, who had another solid round with a 3-over 75 to finish at 225 (77-73-75). The Honolulu native started the day 1-under through her first five holes and was even through 15, with a string of seven consecutive pars, before bogeying her final three holes of the day. Britos, the team's top finisher in all eight tournaments this season, tied for 41st.
 
No. 11 UCLA held off No. 10 Washington for the team title. The Bruins shot a final round 12-under 276 to win by four strokes. Rounding out the top five were No. 17 Arizona State (862), No. 31 Pepperdine (869), and No. 39 Oregon (886).
 
Pepperdine's Grace Na took the individual title with a 10-under 206 after closing with a 68 on Wednesday. She won by five strokes over Denver's Tonje Daffinrud, who shot 74 and finished at 5-under 211. UCLA's Erynne Lee tied the course record, also matched by Daffinrud in Round 2, with a 7-under 65.
 
The Rainbow Wahine totaled 930 (313-315-302), including Wednesday's 302 which was the team's best round of the tournament.
 
Other than bogeys on No. 1 and No. 10, freshman Nichole Cruz parred the other 16 holes to finish at 2-over 74.  She had eight straight pars from Nos. 2 through 9. The Rancho Murieta, Calif., native tied for 53rd overall at 14-over 230 (78-78-74).
 
Junior Liana Otake, a Maui native, finished her final eight holes at 1-under par to finish at 2-over 74. At one point in her round, she was 3-over through her first nine before a birdie on the par-4 9th. She concluded the tournament at 235 (78-83-74) to tie for 74th place.
 
Junior Charlee Kapiioho battled back from a slow start with birdies on Nos. 13 and 15 and closed with a 7-over 79. The Honolulu native placed 88th with a three-round score of 240 (80-81-79). Competing in her final home tournament of her career was senior Megan Inouye, who placed 95th at 251 (85-85-83).
 
The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the Big West Conference Championship, April 21-23 in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
