Men's Volleyball Hosts Pacific To Begin Season-Ending Homestand

Match Notes

HONOLULU – The 12th-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team begins its final homestand of the regular season by hosting Pacific, Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23 at the Stan Sheriff Center. First serve for both matches is 7:00 p.m.

The Warriors (7-14, 6-12 MPSF) will look to bounce back after dropping a pair of matches at California Baptist last week. UH lost the first match in four and the rematch in five, its 12th five-set match of the season. Freshman Sinisa Zarkovic led the Warriors, averaging 3.11 kills per set. Sophomore Brook Sedore tallied 14 kills while hitting for a career-best .481 in Saturday's match.

The Tigers (6-13, 3-12) snapped a 10-match losing streak with a four-set win over Grand Canyon in the second of two non-conference matches last week. Outside hitter Taylor Hughes leads UOP and ranks seventh in the MPSF with a 3.89 kill average. Libero Javier Caceres tops the league in digs at 2.81 per set.

In 41 all-time meetings between the schools, UH has lost just once in 1997. Since then, the Warriors have won 31 consecutive matches, including 17 straight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

UH has direct ties to UOP as head coach Charlie Wade was the Tigers' women's volleyball head coach from 2006-08 and associate coach Jeff Hall was UOP's men's assistant from 2007-09, in addition to starring for the Tigers from 1993-94. UH's starting setter Joby Ramos began his career at UOP before transferring to Hawai'i.
