Match Notes
HONOLULU – The 11th-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team returns to the Stan Sheriff Center where they will host eight matches during the month of March beginning with this week's two-match Mountain Pacific Sports Federation series versus No. 8 Cal State Northridge. The matches will take place Friday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 3 at 5:00 p.m.
The Warriors (5-10, 4-8 MPSF) enter the second half of the MPSF schedule in ninth place after sporting a 4-8 league mark against the conference's top six teams, who are also ranked Nos. 1-6 nationally. The remainder of Hawai'i's schedule is currently against the bottom six teams including seventh place CSUN (7-6, 5-6), who dropped its only match last week to No. 4 Long Beach State in four.
UH returns from a four-match road trip to UCLA and UC Irvine where it went 1-3. The Warriors split the series with the Bruins, losing the first match in straight sets before rebounding for a five-set victory. Against the top-ranked Anteaters, UH nearly pulled off the upset in the opener, taking a two sets to one lead before falling in five. The Warriors dropped the rematch in straight sets. During the road trip,
Brook Sedore led Hawai'i with a 3.62 kills per set average posting double figure kills in each match.
While the Warriors return to the Stan Sheriff Center for the first time in a month, the Matadors will play on the road for the first time since Feb. 2. CSUN is currently 1-3 on the road this season with its only victory at UC San Diego in January.
