HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team defeated the Alumnae squad 14-8, Saturday afternoon at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex in a preseason scrimmage.
The Rainbow Wahine quickly worked their way to a strong lead in the first quarter outscoring the Alumnae 6-2. The Alumnae remained silent in the second while UH scored three more points to conclude the first half with a 9-2 lead.
The Alumnae tried to come back with six points in the second half but was unable to match up to the Rainbow Wahine, who took the match 14-8 in the end.
Newcomer
Paula Chillida Esforzado led UH with four goals, while
Emily Carr performed a hat trick and returnee
Monika Eggens added two. 2009 graduate Lisa Van Raalte led the Alumnae totaling three goals.
UH kicks off regular season play on the road at Sonoma State on Jan. 31 at 3:00 p.m. PT.
