Men's Tennis Closes Regular Season On The Road

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team begins its home stretch this week, taking to the road for its final regular season contests. The Rainbow Warriors will play both No. 55 New Mexico and UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev. before traveling to Logan, Utah to face Western Athletic Conference opponents Idaho and Utah State.

The Rainbow Warriors (4-9) are coming off a big victory against UC Davis last week. UH saw Jonathan Brooklyn win his third straight singles match and four of his last five and, with partner Dmytro Kovalyov, won his second consecutive doubles match. The 'Bows were also treated to a gutty doubles performance by Carter Lam and Jared Spiker. The tandem faced triple match point in their two doubles tiebreaker before reeling off five straight points to win and give UH the lead heading into singles play.  Danilo Casanova snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over Alec Haley , 6-4, 6-4.

UH's best overall record is in the No. 3 position, going 5-6 collectively as a team.

New Mexico (15-6) and UNLV (7-12), both out of the Mountain West Conference, played each other on Sunday. The Lobos proved to be too much, topping the host Rebels, 6-1. Carl Ho is leading the Lobo charge having won his last nine singles matches, predominately in the No. 5 position (11-4) with an overall record of 16-4. UH will take on UNM on Apr. 9 at 12:00 p.m. and UNLV the following day at 10:00 a.m., both Pacific Time.
