STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 8 seeded University of Hawai'i women's water polo team fell to No. 1 seed Stanford Friday morning, 13-3 at the Avery Aquatic Center in the first round of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship.
UH (10-13) scored its only three goals of the match in the second quarter, while Stanford (22-1) sailed through each period steadily to a landslide victory. The Rainbow Wahine will face either fourth-seeded Arizona State on Saturday, Apr. 28 at 11:00 a.m. PT to try for a fifth-place finish.
The Cardinal led 2-0 to end the first period and put four more on the board in the second.
Emily Carr and
Sivan Pardon responded for the Rainbow Wahine to pull the within two at 5-3. However, the Rainbow Wahine did not see the net the rest of the game and took the loss.
Pardon led UH with two goals while
Serena Reid tallied 11 saves.
