SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The No. 14 University of Hawai'i women's water polo team defeated No. 11 Indiana, 11-9 Friday afternoon at the Aztec Aquaplex. UH broke a two-game lose streak as they kicked off the first match of the Aztec Invitational, hosted by San Diego State.
The Rainbow Wahine had control over the Hoosiers for the first three quarters, and despite remaining silent in the fourth, they were able to hold onto the lead until the end.
UH secured an early lead 5-3 after the first quarter, and outscored the Hoosiers again 2-1 in the second for a strong three-goal advantage going into halftime. The Rainbow Wahine remained strong in the third, powering in four more goals for an 11-6 lead going into the final.
Despite the Hoosier's attempt to catch up in the fourth with three unanswered goals, it wasn't enough to steal the lead from UH.
