Rainbows Close Homestand This Week Against San Francisco

Game Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i baseball team will look to regain momentum this week when it hosts the University of San Francisco in a four-game series at Les Murakami Stadium. The Rainbows and Dons will play Thursday, Mar. 15 (6:35 p.m.), Friday, Mar. 16 (6:35 p.m.), Saturday, Mar. 17 (6:05 p.m.), and Sunday, Mar. 18 (1:05 p.m.).

The 'Bows, who will be playing the final series of their 21-game homestand, had excellent pitching performances against Central Michigan last week. Jarrett Arakawa delivered the first complete game of his career, guiding UH to a 5-1 win in game two of the series. He allowed just one run while striking out a season-high eight batters. The lefty from Honolulu is 2-0 overall and leads all starters with a stingy 1.63 earned run average. Freshman Kyle Dowdy continues to deliver impressive outings out of the bullpen, boasting a 0.73 ERA in 12.1 innings pitched. In Saturday's loss, he hurled 6.2 innings of scoreless relief and his 12 strikeouts were the most in one outing for UH since 2010.

Junior Pi'ikea Kitamura is hitting a team-best .337 and has a team-high 56 assists from shortstop over just one error. On the other side of the diamond, freshman Stephen Ventimilia is making a name for himself at second base. He continues to succeed in his role as a lead-off hitter with a team-high .487 on-base percentage. He also leads the team with 15 runs scored.
