Water Polo Drops Conference Match To No. 2 USC

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The No. 6 University of Hawai`i women's water polo team (2-4, 0-2 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) dropped its second conference match, 12-6 to No. 2 USC on Thursday night at the McDonald's Swim Stadium.

The Rainbow Wahine were able to tie the score 3-3 quick in the second quarter, but couldn't recover after the Trojans (8-1, 1-0 MPSF) answered with a four-goal run. UH remained silent in the third, unable to match USC's three goals.

In the final quarter the Rainbow Wahine played catch-up, matching the Trojans 2-2, but it wasn't enough to steal the lead and USC took the match 12-6.

It was a team effort for UH, as Amarens Genee, Danielle Lewis and Tamara Towgood combined for six points with two goals each. USC's Monica Vavic led the Trojans with four goals.

Next, the Rainbow Wahine look to improve their record as they will play four matches at the UC Irvine Invitational from Feb. 25-26. They will open the invite against No. 12 Michigan at 12:45 p.m. PT at the Anteater Aquatics Complex.
