HONOLULU - The two-time defending WAC Champion University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team opens the 2012 season this weekend against the University of Oregon. The 'Bows and Ducks will play a four-game series at Les Murakami Stadium from Feb. 17-20.
The season opener on Friday is at 6:35 p.m. followed by a 6:05 p.m. start time on Saturday, and 1:05 p.m. on both Sunday and Monday. The Rainbows will hold an autograph session following Friday night's contest.
Head Coach
Mike Trapasso enters his 11th season at the helm of the Rainbows holding an overall record of 314-269. Last year, Coach Trapasso earned his third WAC Coach of the Year honor, as UH was named Co-Regular Season Champions for the first time since 1992.
Outfielder
Zack Swasey returns after a stellar 2011 season which landed him a spot on the All-WAC First Team. Pitcher

Breland Almadova, shortstop Pi'ikea Kitamura, and third baseman
Collin Bennett were selected Preseason All-WAC, and the 'Bows were picked to finish third.
UH and then-No.9 Oregon also opened 2011 against each other where the two teams split a four-game series at Les Murakami Stadium. The 'Bows rallied to win the first two games before OU earned a split with a pair of wins to close the series. Hawai'i leads the all-time series 11-3.

Television: OCSports – Channels 12 (SD) and 1012 (HD) will be broadcasting the Sunday and Monday games only. Jim Leahey will be calling the play-by-play with Pal Eldredge doing color commentary.

Fans can proceed to the field via the stairs located at the lower level of Section JJ on the first-base side of the field. The players will be available on the field for 30 minutes for “Autograph Friday”. Fans are encouraged to bring items for the players to sign.
