Water Polo Falls To No. 1 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 5 University of Hawai`i women's water polo team dropped a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match Saturday to No. 1 Stanford, 10-8 at the Avery Aquatic Center. UH is now 14-7, 3-3 MPSF.

The Rainbow Wahine kept it close in the first half, trailing by just one goal (4-3) at halftime. In the third quarter, UH matched the Cardinal 2-2, but continued to trail in the final period and couldn't pull ahead in the end. 

Junior Monika Eggens and senior Saara Majuri each recorded hat tricks to combine for six of the Rainbow Wahine's eight goals. In addition, Kelly McKee and Monique Wilson both added a goal each while Annika Dries led the Cardinal with three goals. 

UH will continue its road trip Sunday, Apr. 10 as the Rainbow Wahine resume play at the Santa Clara Invitational at the Sullivan Aquatic Center. They will face Colorado State at 1:20 p.m. PT and conclude the invitational against host Santa Clara at 6:40 p.m. PT.
