Rainbows Stay Perfect With Win Over LaTech

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i baseball team remained undefeated in WAC play Saturday with a 10-2 win over Louisiana Tech. The Rainbows improved to 20-14 overall and 6-0 in the WAC, while the Bulldogs dropped to 17-17 and 2-4. 

Breland Almadova recorded two hits, two runs, and two RBI to lead Hawai'i. Kolten Wong batted 2-4 with two runs and one RBI, and Michael Blake added two hits, one run, and two RBI. 

Will Alvis batted 2-4 with two runs and two RBI to lead LaTech. 

Already leading 4-1, UH poured in six eighth-inning runs to put the game away. Pi'ikea Kitamura (1-3, 1 R, 1 RBI) and Wong doubled to kick start the inning, and Almadova added a two-RBI double later in the inning. 

Arakawa (4-2) won his third consecutive start for Hawai'i. He tossed seven complete innings allowing one run on four hits with seven strikeouts. Jeb Stefan (4-4) was tagged with the loss for LaTech pitching four and two-thirds innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts. 

The Rainbows and Bulldogs play game three of their series on Sunday. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. 

There were 4,230 tickets sold for the contest, and a turnstile count of 3,151.
