HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i baseball team remained perfect in the WAC, topping Louisiana Tech Friday in their series-opener, 1-0. Matt Sisto (3-4) tossed six shutout innings for the win, as the Rainbows improved to 5-0 in conference and 19-14 overall. Louisiana Tech falls to 2-3 and 17-16.
Pi'ikea Kitamura (3-3, 1 R) led the Rainbows at the plate batting 3-3 and scored the game's lone run. A Michael Blake (1-4, 1 RBI) single drove Kitamura home from third. Breland Almadova added two hits.
Sisto allowed no earned runs in his second straight outing. Randy Yard and Blair Walters each pitched an inning of relief, and Lenny Linsky picked up his sixth save with a scoreless ninth inning.
Trevor Peterson (3-2) received the loss for the Bulldogs, pitching seven innings allowing one run on seven hits. Austin Hedges and Clint Ewing each batted 2-4 to lead the Louisiana Tech.
There were 3,190 tickets sold for the contest, and a turnstile count of 1,994.
The Rainbows and Bulldogs continue their series Saturday night. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
