LOS ANGELES – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team fell to Loyola Marymount today, 4-1, in the final game of their series. UH falls to 5-6 while LMU improves to 9-4.
Jesse Moore (0-2) suffered the loss for the Rainbows allowing four runs on seven hits in six innings. John Lally (1-1) pitched eight innings to earn the win for LMU.
The 'Bows scored their lone run of the game in the first inning. Jeffrey Van Doornum (1-3, 1 RBI) singled in Zack Swasey (1-3, 1 R) from third base to give UH a 1-0 lead. Neither team would score until the sixth inning when LMU plated all four of their runs. Evan Simonitsch's RBI-double was the big hit of the inning.
Kolten Wong and Sean Montplaisir each added one hit for Hawai'i. Simonitsch and Shon Row both collected two hits and one RBI for the Lions, with Matt Lowenstein adding one run, one hit, and an RBI.
Hawai'i next plays Long Beach State tomorrow for one game before closing its road trip. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
