Rainbow Baseball Takes Down LMU

LOS ANGELES – The University of Hawai'i baseball team defeated Loyola Marymount today, 3-2. Connor Little (1-0) earned the win,
tossing seven and one-third innings for the Rainbows who even the series and improve to 4-5.  

Little allowed just two runs on six hits while striking out three. Lenny Linsky recorded his second save, pitching an inning and two-thirds of scoreless relief while striking out a pair. Sean Montplaiser batted 3-4 with one run and one RBI, hitting an RBI-double in the first inning to give UH a 1-0 lead.  

Alex Gillingham (1-2) received the loss for LMU (8-3), allowing three runs on eight hits in eight complete innings. Matt Lowenstein batted 2-3 with one run to lead the Lions. 

Michael Blake batted 2-4 and A.J. Bayus recorded one hit and an RBI in his first start of the season. 

After LMU tied the game in the second inning, Hawai'i regained the lead in the fifth. Bayus singled home Blake then Jeffrey Van Doornum (1-4, 1 RBI) doubled in Montplaiser one inning later to put the 'Bows up 3-1. 

Hawai'i and LMU play game three of their series tomorrow, March 5. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
