SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The No. 4 University of Hawai`i women's water polo team concluded the Aztec Invitational, hosted by San Diego State, this afternoon with an 8-6 victory over Princeton. The Rainbow Wahine, who went undefeated in the tournament, now improve to 10-4, 2-0 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
UH kept the Tigers silent and scored two goals in the first quarter. Princeton put in one goal in the second, but couldn't keep up as the Rainbow Wahine added four goals to earn a strong 6-1 halftime advantage.
Princeton rallied back in the third quarter, trailing just 7-5 behind after outscoring UH 4-1. Both teams scored one goal in the final quarter, and the Rainbow Wahine held on for an 8-6 victory.
Next UH will return home to host No. 3 USC on Mar. 18 at 6:00 p.m. at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex for MPSF play.
