HONOLULU – In the series finale, The University of Hawai'i baseball team was defeated by Oregon, 4-3. The game was shortened to eight innings due to travel plans by the Ducks, as agreed by both teams. The Rainbows and Ducks both move to 2-2 after splitting the four-game series.
Alex Keudell (1-0) earned the win for Oregon, tossing five innings allowing two runs and striking out nine batters. Jarett Arakawa (0-1) was tagged with the loss for UH. In relief of starter Jessie Moore, he pitched one inning allowing two runs.
Kolten Wong and Collin Bennett each collected two hits to lead the 'Bows, with Wong adding one run and Bennett posting one RBI.
Aaron Jones (2 H, 1 R, 1 RBI) led Oregon at the plate, opening the game with a homerun to give UO a lead it would not relinquish. The 'Bows threatened in the seventh inning as they cut the lead to 4-3, but left the bases loaded.
The Rainbows now look to next weekend as they host No. 7 Texas in a three game series. The teams will play February 25, 26, and 27.
