WESTWOOD, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team dropped the opener of a four-match road trip to No. 7 UCLA, 25-21, 25-22, 28-26, Thursday night in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation contest at Pauley Pavilion.
The Warriors (5-7, 3-4 MPSF) saw their modest two-match win streak come to an end while the Bruins (8-7, 3-6) snapped their five-match losing streak. The teams will play again on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. HT) at Pauley Pavilion.

Jonas Umlauft and outside hitter
Joshua Walker each had 14 kills for UH. Umlauft missed the teams' earlier meeting last month in the Outrigger Hotels Invitational, which the Bruins also won in straight sets. Walker did not commit an error in 23 swings for a .609 hitting percentage.
The duo had 28 of the team's 39 kills and 56 of 81 swings. As a team, UH hit .346 compared to UCLA's .341.
The Bruins featured a more balanced attack led by Kyle Caldwell's 11 kills while Weston Dunlap and Gonzalo Quiroga each had 10. The trio combined for 31 kills on .462 hitting.
