HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team won its alumni game 10-1 at Les Murakami Stadium Saturday.
Starter Matt Sisto earned the win for the Rainbows, pitching six complete innings allowing no runs on one hit with eight strikeouts. He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Jarett Alexander slapped a base hit into right field. Brent Harrison, Michael Blake, and Lenny Linsky saw action in relief of Sisto.
UH got on the board early, posting two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. The 'Bows added two more runs in the third inning, then broke the game wide open with a three-run fifth inning to take an 8-0 lead.
Collin Bennett led Hawai'i with two hits, one run, and three RBI, and Breland Almadova batted 2-3 with two runs. Kolten Wong posted three runs and David Peterson added two hits.
UH appeared headed for a shutout, but Sean Murphy scored from second on a base hit to post the alumni's lone run of the game.
UH will officially open the 2011 season on Friday, Feb. 18, hosting No. 9 Oregon in a four-game set at Les Murakami Stadium. First pitch on Friday is set for 6:35 p.m.
