SEATTLE – The University of Hawai'i women's track and field team had an impressive start to the 2011 indoor season by posting 13 all-time school Top 10 performances at the University of Washington Indoor Preview, Saturday, at Demsey Indoor.
“It was a pretty good day to kick-off our new season,” said UH head coach
Carmyn James, whose team featured athletes who had not competed in an indoor facility before.
A pair of Rainbow Wahine placed in the top six in the weight throw event.
Anika Borden, a senior from Pearl City, O'ahu, was fourth with a throw of 51-8.25 (15.75m) while
Emma MacCorquodale was sixth at 51-1 (15.57m).
On the oval, senior
Ashley Aitken knocked 11 seconds off of her personal best in the mile with a time of 5:03.30, which also ranked among the school's Top 10.
Kevyn Murphy completed her first indoor 3000-meters with a mark of 10:28.87.
Freshman
Ashley Satterwhite posted a pair of Top 10 school performances in the 60-meters (8.08) and 200-meters (26.47), in her first career indoor competition.
The Rainbow Wahine will next host the Sunset Meet #1, Saturday, at the Clarence T.C. Ching Field.
