Game Notes
HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i Warrior football team begins its Centennial Year by hosting Football Championship Subdivision opponent Central Arkansas in a rare Friday night game (Sept. 4) at Aloha Stadium. Kickoff is 7:05 p.m.
This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the first UH football team. Overall, this season is the program's 93rd season of football. It is also UH's 31st season as a member of the Western Athletic Conference and 34th season playing at 50,000-seat Aloha Stadium.
This week's game marks the fourth consecutive season that UH (0-0) will play a FCS opponent and ninth time in the last 11 years. The Warriors have won their last seven meetings versus FCS opponents.
UH head coach Greg McMackin begins his second season with the Warriors. In 2008, he guided UH to a 7-7 overall record and appearance in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl.
The Warriors open the 2009 season at Aloha Stadium but won't play there again until October 11, a span of 36 days, which is the second longest such duration in the country.
The Bears (0-0) are coming off a 10-2 campaign and first place finish in the Southland Conference. Head coach Clint Conque begins his 11th season and owns a 68-36 record. The Bears are ranked No. 12 in the preseason FCS Coaches Poll. Last season, UCA was ranked as high as eighth nationally.
