The Bulldogs had defeated the Warriors, 4-3, in a regular-season match in Fresno on April 3.

UH bounced back with three straight wins in singles to take a 3-1 lead.
Leo Rosenberg started if off with a 6-3, 6-0 defeat of de Villiers on the No. 3 court. Fitch followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Veerepali on the No. 5 court. Lajola put UH one point away from victory after he defeated Mirko Zapletal 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 1 position.
The Bulldogs, however, came back with two straight wins to even the score, 3-3. Rudolf Siwy defeated
Andreas Weber 6-3, 6-0 on the No. 2 court, while Flavio Mollinedo out-lasted
Philipp Eberhard 6-7, 6-4, 6-2.
It all came down to court No. 4 and Heinemann versus Boutillier. Heinemann battled back from a one-set deficit, by winning the final two sets in thrilling fashion, 7-5, 6-4. It was the 11th straight win for the native of Eschwege, Germany, and it helped assure UH just its second-ever appearance in the WAC Tournament finals.
UH and Boise State will now meet for the second time in a little more than a week. The 20th-ranked Broncos, beat Hawai`i, 6-1, in Boise on April 17.
