No. 20 Baseball Gives Up Two Seven-Run Innings Late To Fall To No. 3 ASU 17-2

Box Score

TEMPE, Ariz. – With most of the damage coming late in the game, the No. 20 University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team (24-14) fell to the No. 3 Arizona State Sun Devils (29-8) 17-2 at Packard Stadium Tuesday. Alex Capaul (1-2) took the loss for UH while Jordan Swagerty (1-1) got the loss.

Kolten Wong extended his hitting streak to 12 games, going 2-for-4 with a double and run. Kevin Macdonald added a double and one RBI while Greg Garcia went 2-for-5 with one RBI. Ryan Morford added a 2-for-3 game with a double.

Connor Little pitched really well in the start, putting the Sun Devils away in order in each of the first three innings pitched. Little was then taken out of the game after his pre-determined three-inning start.

Macdonald got the UH offense started, doubling in Vinnie Catricala to give the Rainbows an early 1-0 edge in the top of the fourth.

But the Sun Devils got it going in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three runs that were aided by a couple of UH errors, giving ASU a 3-1 lead.

But the low-scoring affair turned ugly in the bottom of the seventh as ASU put up seven runs to get it to 10-1.

The Sun Devils added seven more runs in the bottom of the eighth, making it 17-1.

Hawai`i added a run in the top of the ninth, making the final 17-2.

The Rainbows will next head to Las Cruces, N.M., for a four-game WAC series at New Mexico State from Apr. 24-26.
