Box Score

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i softball team (7-11) overpowered Mount St. Mary's, 8-0 in six innings in the first game of the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium tonight.  Stephanie Ricketts fired a one-hit shut-out with seven strike outs, #Dara Pagaduan# hit her second home run of the season, and Amanda Tauali'i went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the 'Bows to the win.

UH's scoring started in the third inning when Dara Pagaduan drilled her second home run of the season. The homer drove in Julie Franklin who had led the inning off with a single up the middle.

In the fourth, the 'Bows tacked on three more runs, extending their lead to 5-0. #Amanda Tauali`i led the inning with a hard hit single off the base of the centerfield fence. Pinch runner Richie-Anne Titcomb then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Makani Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu then hit a hard grounder off the third baseman to score Titcomb. Kanani Pu`u-Warren was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. Alex Aguirre# followed by executing a bunt, but on the play, they tried to get the force out at third, but the throw by the pitcher was wide, allowing pinch runner, Mikalemi Tagab-Cruz to be safe at third. The next batter, Franklin, was hit by the pitch and forced Tagab-Cruz across the plate. Mount St. Mary's pitcher, Jamie Fowler then settled down to strike out the next two batters, but a walk to Pagaduan with the bases still loaded pushed the inning's final run across the plate.

In the fifth, Tauali`i picked up her third hit of the game with a sharp single up the middle. After a fly out to center, Pu`u-Warren was beaned for the second time in the game to put runners at first and second. Aguirre then laced an opposite-field triple to the right-centerfield gap to score both Tauali`i and Pu`u-Warren. After a foul-fly out to first, Amanda Sadowl came into the game in relief of Fowler and got a swinging strike out to end the inning.

In the sixth, Tanisha Milca led off with a single up the middle. Pagaduan then walked. Both runners moved into scoring position and Clare Warwick hit into a grounder to short that allowed Milca to score the eighth and final run of the mercy-rule ended game.

For Hawai`i, Ricketts evened her record at 3-3 on the season and it was her third straight shut-out in a row against NCAA competition. She also earned another win against Tokyo last weekend in an exhibition game.
