Hawai`i Falls To No. 10/6 Oklahoma, 14-0

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i softball team (1-3) fell to No. 10/6 Oklahoma, 14-0 in five innings on the final day of the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. 

The powerful Sooners racked up 15 hits and capitalized on six Hawai`i errors. It marked the third straight, mercy-rule shortened game for Oklahoma. OU's pitcher, Kirsten Allen, fired a complete game, one-hit shut-out, fanning four batters and walking just one in the five innings of play. 

Hawai`i's lone hit was a double by Melissa Gonzalez in the top of the fourth inning.
 
Hawai`i's, Gonzalez took the loss on the mound. In one-plus inning of work, she gave up eight runs on five hits--only two of those runs were earned. Stephanie Ricketts then entered the game and fired the next 1.2 innings, giving up four runs on six hits with a walk and a pair of strike outs. Sarah Robinson then closed the game, throwing the final 1.1 innings. Robinson yielded two runs on four hits with one strike out.
The 'Bows will now face No. 19/17 LSU in the tournament's third place game later today.
