'Bows Open 2009 Campaign Hosting No. 9 UC Irvine For Four Games

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team opens its 2009 season hosting the No. 9 UC Irvine Anteaters for a four-game series at the Les Murakami Stadium, starting Friday, Feb. 20, at 6:35 p.m.
 
After the opener on Friday night, the 'Bows and Anteaters will play a doubleheader starting at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21. All doubleheaders this season will be a nine-inning game and a seven-inning game. The final game will be on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 1:05 p.m.
 
Jayson Kramer is set to be UH's opening day starter, going against UCI's Daniel Bibona. The Rainbows will send junior Nathaniel Klein and Alex Capaul out for the doubleheader, going against Anteaters Christian Bergman and Crosby Slaught. Hawai'i freshman Matt Sisto will start the Sunday game for UH. UCI is undecided on its Sunday starter for now.
 
Baseball on Television
KFVE the home team (Channel 5) will do all four games live with Jim Leahey handling the play-by-play and Pal Eldredge providing color commentary. Selected games are also available via the Internet through http://uhstreaming.oceanic.com.

Rainbows on the Radio
ESPN Radio (1420 AM) will broadcast all games live with Don Robbs calling the action. The broadcast can also be heard on the Internet at http://espn1420am.com.

Hawai'i on the Internet
All the games this week will have live stats available on the Internet at HawaiiAthletics.com.

Ticket Information
Tickets for this week's home games will be $8 for seats in the lower and mid sections, and $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $3 for UH students and students ages 4-18 in the upper section. Tickets can be purchased at the Les Murakami Stadium (on gamedays only), the Stan Sheriff Center, through HawaiiAthletics.com or by calling (808) 944-BOWS.

Chevron is the game sponsor for the season opener on Friday, Jack In The Box for Saturday's doubleheader, and the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa for Sunday's series finale. 

UH system students will receive a free ticket and UH Alumni Association members will receive 50% off tickets (maximum of eight) to all games during the opening weekend of UH baseball, Feb. 20-22. Students and UHAA members can pick up their tickets in advance at the Stan Sheriff Center Box Office (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or at the Les Murakami Stadium Box Office on game day by showing their valid UH or UHAA identification card. Students also need to present their I.D. at the stadium gate when entering. Tickets are for special sections and supplies are limited, so students and UHAA members are encouraged to get their tickets in advance. Other restrictions may apply.

Chevron, the sponsor for the baseball team's season opener on Friday, is revving up the savings for tickets to the game. Fans purchasing eight or more gallons of Chevron with Techron gasoline will receive a free upper-level ticket with the purchase of a upper-level ticket at regular price. Just bring your eight-plus gallon receipt to the Les Murakami Stadium Box Office on game night or the Stan Sheriff Center Box Office Monday through Friday (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). Two tickets per person, per eight-plus gallon receipt. Supplies are limited and other restrictions may apply. The first 500 fans to enter the stadium will receive UH car flags, compliments of Chevron.
