HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team previewed its 2009 team in an exhibition match against it alumnae Saturday at the Duke Kahanumoku Aquatic Complex. The current squad defeated its alumnae team composed of former Rainbow Wahine and coaches, 12-10. 

Scott Harvey led the alumnae team with five goals and helped them hold onto the lead for almost three full quarters. 

For the Rainbow Wahine, sophomore Saara Majuri tied the score and then gave UH the lead with back-to-back goals nearing the end of the third quarter. In the final minutes of the match, senior Kelly Mason scored three goals to seal the victory for the varsity.

Hawai'i officially begins its season, Jan. 31, in San Jose, Calif., against Sonoma State in its opening match of the NorCal Cup Tournament.
