LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (24-27, 16-14 WAC) fell to the New Mexico State Aggies (26-27, 13-13) 13-8 in the second game of the series at Presley Askew Field Friday. Heath Goin (6-2) got the win for NMSU while Nicholas Rhodes (4-5) took the loss for UH.

Jonathan Hee led the way for the 'Bows, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI. Evan Zimny added a 2-for-5 game with a run while Ryan Asato went 2-for-4 with a double.

NMSU opened the scoring in the second inning, scoring a run on three hits. But UH responded in the top of the third as Hee blasted his second career home run, a two-run shot to left, putting the 'Bows up 2-1. It looked like UH would add another home run in the inning as Kevin Macdonald sent a deep fly to left that was caught at the wall by Aggie leftfielder Tyler Hardt.

Greg Garcia hit a sacrifice fly to score Vinnie Catricala in the fourth inning. Macdonald then doubled in Zimny in the fifth to score another run and get UH's lead to 4-1.

The Aggies added a run in the bottom of the fifth to cut it back to 4-2. They then brought out the bats in the bottom of the sixth, scoring eight runs, including a grand slam by Joseph Scaperotta, swinging the score to 10-4.

Hee led off the seventh with his second homer of the day to cut it back to 10-5. But NMSU continued their home run parade in the bottom of the seventh, adding three runs on two homers to get their lead to 13-5.

The 'Bows added a run on a RBI-double by Ryan Morford in the top of the eighth before Jeffrey Van Doornum hit a two-run home run in the ninth, making the final score 13-8.

The series continues at Presley Askew Field with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. (9 a.m. HST).
