'Bows Fall To No. 12 Shockers 10-4 In Game One Of Double-Header

HONOLULU, O`ahu - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (9-5) fell to the No. 12 Wichita State Shockers (7-2) 10-4 in the first game of double-header Sunday. Mark Rodrigues (4-1) suffered his first loss of the season while Aaron Shafer (2-1) got the win for WSU. Anthony Capra came in to earn his first save of the year.

Evan Zimny went 2-for-3 with one RBI while Derek DuPree added a 2-for-4 game with a run and a double. Justin Frash blasted his first home run of the year, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

The Rainbows got on the board first as DuPree scored on a Shocker error in the first inning, going ahead 1-0. But Wichita State quickly responded, scoring two rs in the second to take the 2-1 edge. Conor Gillaspie added to the Shocker lead in the third, blasting a three-run home run to make it 5-1.

Frash homered in the fourth, hitting a solo shot to right that cut it back to 5-2. But WSU kept the pressure on, scoring three in the fifth to get it back to 8-2.

The Rainbows were able to muster a couple runs in the sixth, but it wasn't enough, losing by the final count of 10-4.
