SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (9-3) defeated the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (2-3) at the Caesar Uyesaka Stadium Sunday, taking the road series.

Jonathan Hee led the way offensively for UH, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Brandon Haislet added a 2-for-4 game with one run and one RBI while Kris Sanchez kept his 16-game hitting streak alive with a two-run home run.
The Gauchos got out to a two-run lead aided by a UH error in the bottom of the second inning. The 'Bows responded in the top of the third, as Landon Hernandez scored on a wild pitch before Hee drove in Derek DuPree on a sacrifice fly, tying it up at 2-2. Hawai`i had a chance to take the lead from UCSB, but couldn't capitalize, leaving the bases loaded to end the inning.
UH had another huge opportunity in the fifth, loading the bases with no outs. But the Rainbows were only able to score one run on a double play, giving them a slight 3-2 edge.
But Hawai`i blew it open in the sixth. With the bases loaded, Hee hit a two-run single to start it up. Franco later scored on a passed ball before Hee came in on a sacrifice fly by Haislet, moving the UH advantage to 7-2.
Sanchez waited until the ninth to keep his hitting streak alive, blasting a two-run homer to left-center, making it 9-2.
The 'Bows will now head back to the islands, where they will await the No. 11 Wichita State Shockers for a three-game series starting Friday, Feb. 23.
