HONOLULU - The Rainbow Wahine's two seniors, pitcher

Kristi Yoshizawa were the winning battery in Hawai`i's final regular season game against Utah State (8-38, 3-14 WAC). Hawai`i (27-20, 9-7 WAC) scored three runs in the first and one in the fifth for a 4-1 win. Blanning threw a four-hit complete game with one walk and six strike outs.
In the top of the first inning, Quela Leonhardt led the game off with a single to left. Two batters later, Sara Fleming drove her in from second with a single to right-center. For the second game in a row, the Aggies jumped out to a quick lead, 1-0 after their first at bat.
But the Rainbow Wahine responded in the bottom half of the inning. Clare Warwick hit a one out single to left. The next two batters Brandi Peiler and Tyleen Tausaga both drew walks to load the bases. Tanisha Milca then ripped a double to the right-centerfield gap to score Warwick and Malamaisaua Manuma who was pinch running for Peiler. Kaulana Gould then grounded out to the rightside of the infield, but on the play, Tausaga scored from third. UH ended the first inning up 3-0.
In the bottom of the fifth, Warwick hit a line drive home run over the centerfield fence for Hawai`i's fourth run of the game. The home run also tied the team home run record of 40 that was set in 2003.
Utah State used three pitchers, but Lindsey Benson took the loss. She threw 4.0 innings, gave up four runs on five hits with two walks and two strike outs.
Hawai`i now travels to Fresno, Calif. for the WAC Championship next week.
