FRESNO, Calif. - A day after having their eight-game road streak snapped, the University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (25-11, 3-5 WAC) fell to the No. 21 Fresno State Bulldogs (26-10, 7-2) 13-2 at Pete Beiden Field Sunday.
Ian Harrington (4-2) took the loss while Andy Underwood (6-2) picked up the win for the Bulldogs.
Matthew Inouye went 2-for-4 while Joseph Spiers added a 1-for-3 game with two runs and two stolen bases.
Fresno State jumped ahead 3-0 in the first inning. Hawai`i looked to get back into the game as Spiers scored in the top of the third.
But the Dogs had too much bite, adding two runs in the bottom of the third before the big blow, a three-run homer by Brian Lapin, in the fifth inning, pushed the lead to 8-1. Fresno State scored five more runs with the Rainbows adding their second run in the eighth to make the final 13-2.
The 'Bows will take a day off before facing the California Bears in Berkeley, Calif., on Tuesday, April 11, at 2 p.m.
