'Bows Drop WAC Opener To Louisiana Tech, 6-1

Box Score

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (18-7) fell to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (10-10) 6-1 in the Western Athletic Conference opener at Les Murakami Stadium Friday. Steven Wright (4-2) took the loss, just his second on the season, while Luke Burnett (2-2) got the win for Tech. Andrew Alsup came in to get the save for the Bulldogs

Robbie Wilder had the best game offensively, going 2-for-4 with one RBI. Esteban Lopez added a 1-for-4 game with a double and a run.

The Bulldogs put up a run in the second inning before Albie Goulder blasted a two-run homer in the fourth, pushing it to 3-0.

Wilder drove in Lopez in the fifth to cut it back to 3-1. But Tech got a big inning in the seventh as Jericho Jones and Amos Ramon hit back-to-back doubles that brought in three runs to make it 6-1.

That was all that the Tech pitching needed as UH stranded six runners, including four in scoring position, making the final 6-1.

The two teams will play again tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. at the Les Murakami Stadium.
