HONOLULU - The No. 25 Brigham Young Cougars (3-1) shut out Hawai`i, 4-0, to even their record at 1-1 in the game six of the second day of play of the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise. Summer Tobias got the complete game victory, fanning 10 Rainbow Wahine and spacing three hits. She used a good mix of pitches, including a mesmerizing change up, to keep the UH batters at bay.
The Cougars jumped out to a fast start, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs, BYU linked together four straight hits that consequently drove in every run. Krystle Chamberlain drew a one out walk and two batters later, with two outs, Ianeta Le`i started the hit parade with a single down the leftfield line. Ashlyn Russell then hit a single to center, pushing Le`i to third, and scoring Chamberlain from second. An overthrow by the UH centerfielder trying to cut down the run at home allowed Russell to advance to second. Jodi Norton then followed with a base hit to rightfield that drove in Le`i from third and moved Russell to third. Jenn Whitely followed with a single to left that drove in Russell to make lengthen the Cougar lead to 3-0. BYU extended their lead in the fifth when Le`i hit a triple over the UH rightfielder to score Chamberlain who had walked earlier in the inning.
For Hawai`i, Courtney Baughman got her first collegiate start against the Cougars. She threw a complete game in the loss, giving up four runs on six hits with three walks and five strike outs in 6.0 innings.

Game 6: LMU 1, Texas State 0
Pitcher Tiffany Pagano threw a complete game shut out for Loyola Marymount. She spaced three hits, walked one, and fanned 12 Bobcat batters. Texas State's Sarah Lancour also threw a complete game, giving up one run on four hits with three strike outs.
LMU got all the offense it needed in the fifth. With one out, Kristen Slouber hit a double down the left field line. The next batter up, Megan Ackerman, hit a ground ball to short, who threw to first. Slouber broke for third upon release, and the Bobcat firstbaseman Kristen Gunter pulled off the bag to try to cut down the runner at third, but misfired. The ball squirted away from the third baseman Tamara Keller, allowing Slouber to scramble safely home.
Game 7: Texas State 6, No. 25 BYU 4 (8 innings)
Texas State bounced back in their second game of the day, defeating BYU, 6-4. Katie Ann Trahan pitched seven plus innings and got her second win of the tournament, and Sarah Lancour earned a save when she came in the bottom of the eighth to extinguish the Cougars' rally. Daniella Urincho went to 1-1 on the year, picking up the loss in relief of Brooke Boyce-Humber who exited after 2.1 innings pitched and being down 3-0.
The Bobcats broke onto the scoreboard in the second inning, with a solo home run by Ali McCormack over the left centerfield fence. They extended their lead in the following frame. Alex Newton led off the third with a double over the centerfielder. She moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Kristen Gunter. Then Trahan smacked a home run over the leftfield fence scoring Newton from third.
BYU remained scoreless through five, but in the bottom of the sixth, Krystle Chamberlain led off with a single. Jodi Norton followed and hit a two-run shot over the leftfield wall. In the bottom of the seventh, Monica Gonzalez led the inning off by drawing a walk. She advanced to second by tagging up on a deep foul fly to left by Ianeta Le`i. Ashlyn Russell hit a ground ball to third, but a misfired throw to first allowed Gonzalez to score the tying run.
In the top of the eighth, with the international tie breaker in place, the Bobcats capitalized on miscues by the BYU defense to score three runs on no outs. BYU tried to rally in the bottom half, but came up just short, only able to score one run.

Game 8: Southern Mississippi 1, Texas-Arlington 2
UTA scored first in the bottom of the second inning. Autumn Petrino hit a two out, two run single to right, diving in April Clougherty and Katie Jones from third and second respectively.
USM chipped away, scoring one run in the top of the fourth, scoring a single run. A. Bullard reached on a single up the middle.She stole second, moved over to third on a ground out by A. Davis. C Butler then hit behind the runner with a ground ball to second that scored Bullard from third. The Golden Eagles mounted rallies in the fifth and seventh, but __Jones thwarted the threats and held off Southern Miss for her first victory of the year.
