HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (17-20) defeated the Hawai`i Pacific Sea Warriors (20-16) 3-1 at the Les Murakami Stadium Wednesday.
Ricky Bauer (3-2) pitched 4.0 innings with two hits, no walks and four strikeouts to get the win. Josh Guerra (3-2) took the loss for HPU while
Justin Costi picked up his first save of the year.
Isaac Omura had a great game, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs. Joseph Spiers added a 1-for-4 game with a run and a double.
The 'Bows started the scoring as Spiers scored on a wild pitch to go up 1-0. In the fifth, Omura came up with his homer, a solo shot to right field, making it 2-0.
HPU got a run in the top of the seventh to cut it to a 2-1 game, but it wasn't enough, as Omura scored on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh before Costi took care of the Sea Warriors in the ninth.
The Rainbows will next host No. 15 Rice for a three-game WAC series, starting Friday, April 13, at 6:35 p.m.
