Warriors Make It 33 In A Row Over Tritons

SAN DIEGO - No. 6 ranked Hawai`i defeated UC San Diego tonight in three 30-28, 30-26, 30-27 at the RIMAC Arena.

It was the 33rd straight victory for UH over UCSD. Hawai`i improved to 15-6 overall and 11-5 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. UCSD fell to 1-19 and 0-16.

UH outside hitter Pedro Azenha had another solid hitting performance as he slammed down a match-best 18 kills while hitting .469.

Kyle Klinger got his second straight start and got the job done pickig up nine kills and hit .583 in 12 swings. His counterpart Lauri Hakala also had nine kills while hitting at a .300 clip.

Senior Daniel Rasay got the start at setter dishing out 46 assists and notched one ace.

Hawai`i out hit UC San Diego .364 to .250, while out blocking them 9.5 to 3.0. The Warriors return home and host ranked UC Santa Barbara Friday and Saturday, April 1 and 2, at the Stan Sheriff Center. Both matches are slated for a 7:05 p.m. HST first serve.
