Bryant Fans 10 as Rainbows Win Big Over Pacific, 10-2

Box Score

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (4-2) continued their offensive explosion, beating the Pacific Tigers (5-4) 10-2 in front of a crowd of 2,236 at the Les Murakami Stadium Friday. Stephen Bryant (1-0) struck out 10, giving up just one run on one hit for the win while Tyler McCready (1-1) took the loss for UOP.

Joseph Spiers kept up his hot hitting, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs, while Matthew Inouye came up with a 2-for-4 game with one RBI and one double. Daniel Magana had three runs and a double while Troy Hanzawa had a 1-for-2 game with one RBI and one run in his first start.

The Tigers again scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a RBI-triple by Jerin Harper. But that would only last until the third inning as Hanzawa and Kish drove in runs before Spiers scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-1.

Hawai`i then ran it up in the fourth as Spiers hit a two-run single up the middle to make it 5-1, before the flood gates opened, as three more runs capped a five-run inning, making it 8-1 in favor of the Rainbows.

UH added runs in the fifth and sixth before giving up the last run of the game in the top of the ninth, making the final 10-2.

The two teams will play again tomorrow at 5:35 p.m. at the Les Murakami Stadium. Colby Summer will go for UH against Pacific's L. Massetti.
