RENO, Nev. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (30-21, 13-13 WAC) fell to the Nevada Wolf Pack (30-26, 14-13) 10-3 in front of a crowd of 1,558 at Peccole Park Sunday.
Clary Carlsen (6-7) took the loss for UH while Ryan Rodriguez (5-7) got the win for Nevada. Ryan Harbaugh also picked up his first save.
Matthew Inouye led the way for the 'Bows, going 2-for-4 with one RBI and a triple. Jaziel Mendoza added a 2-for-5 game with a double and run while Rocky Russo and Gregory Kish added RBI-singles.
The Wolf Pack got on the board first as Jacob Butler hit a two-run double in the bottom of the first. Brett Hayes then added a solo home run in the third, making it 3-0.
Russo got Hawai`i their first run in the fourth, driving in Mendoza to cut the deficit to 3-1.
But Nevada came right back, scoring two in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the sixth, pushing the Pack advantage to 7-1.
The 'Bows got two more in the seventh, driven in by Kish and Inouye, but Nevada wasn't done, adding three more in the bottom of the inning, making the final 10-3.
Hawai`i will now head to California for their final four games of the season, starting with a mid-week game at Pacific on Tuesday, May 25, at 11 a.m.
