Hawai`i Falls to Cal State Northridge in Series Finale 8-1

Box Score

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (1-5) fell to the Cal State Northridge Matadors (4-2) 8-1 in the final game of their three-game series in front of a crowd of 2,104 at the Les Murakami Stadium Sunday. Steven Wright picked up the loss for UH while Matador Craig Baker got the win.

Brian Finegan kept his hitting streak going at six games (all six this season) with a 1-for-3 game. Creighton Kahoali`i led the way at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double and one RBI.

The Matadors jumped out with a huge second inning, scoring five runs, highlighted by two homers, to go up 5-0. UH came back as Kahoali`i hit a run-scoring, ground-rule double to centerfield to cut it to 5-1 at the end of the second.

But that would be all that the `Bows could muster as Cal State Northridge added a run in the third and two more in the seventh, taking the game by the final of 8-1.

Hawai`i will next face the Florida International Golden Panthers for a three-game series starting Firday, Feb. 8, at 6:35 p.m. at the Les Murakami Stadium.
