HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (8-5) defeated the UH-Hilo Vulcans 14-5 to win their seventh straight game in front of a crowd of 2,178 at the Les Murakami Stadium Sunday.
Clary Carlsen (2-2) got the win for the 'Bows while Brian Ebbs (0-2) took the loss for UH-Hilo.
Matthew Inouye continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI, one run and two stolen bases. Robbie Wilder added a 1-for-3 game with two RBI and two runs while Gregory Kish went 1-for-4 with two RBI and two runs.
After a scoreless first inning, the Rainbows came out with a big second inning, scoring nine runs, highlighted by the two-run single by Kish.
The Vulcans staged a small comeback with two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth. But the 'Bows came right back with a couple of runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 11-3.
UH-Hilo picked up a rn in the seventh and another in the eighth, while Hawai`i scored one in the seventh and two in the eighth, making the final 14-5.
Hawai`i will next host the San Francisco Dons in a three-game series starting Friday, Feb. 27, at 6:35 p.m.
