HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (22-19, 4-13 WAC) defeated the Fresno State Bulldogs (21-19, 7-7 WAC) 7-5 in front of a crowd of 2,738 at the Les Murakami Stadium Saturday.
Christopher George (6-5) gave up just six hits and one run in eight innings to pick up the win while Josh Glynn (2-6) got the loss for the Bulldogs.
Guy McDowell also picked up his second save of the season for the 'Bows.
Brian Bock led the way for the 'Bows, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and a run. Brent Cook also went 3-for-4, adding a run while Isaac Omura went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run.
The Bulldogs came out with a run on a wild pitch in the top of the first. The 'Bows came back in the second as Bock drove in Jaziel Mendoza, tying the score a one.
UH would add two runs in the fourth and four in the sixth, capped by a two-run single by Omura, putting the Rainbows up 1-0.
The Bulldogs would score four runs in the top of the nine to pull within two runs, but McDowell would come in and record a strike out to end the rally and give Hawai`i the 7-5 win.
The Rainbows will try to complete the series sweep tomorrow at 1 p.m. Freshman Keahi Rawlins (3-2) is scheduled to be UH's starter.
