HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (10-3) defeated the UH-Hilo Vulcans (5-27) 18-2 in front of a crowd of 2,310 at the Les Murakami Stadium Sunday. 
Justin Cayetano (2-1) picked up the win for the Rainbows while Brian Ebbs (2-6) got the loss for the Vulcans.
Timothy Montgomery had a huge game, going 2-for-3 with two home runs, including one grand slam. Montgomery ended the day with six RBI and three runs scored. Freshmen Rocky Russo and Drew Jackson also homered while Joshua Green went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
Jaziel Mendoza added a 2-for-4 performance with one RBI and one run while Matthew Inouye went 2-for-2 with one RBI. Isaac Omura returned to the Rainbow lineup with a 3-for-5 day with two runs scored.
Five UH pitchers got into the game, with no one issueing a walk throughout. Cayetano ended the day, going 5.0 innings, giving up one run with two strikeouts.
The Vulcans got on the board first, scoring a run in the second inning. The Rainbows then responded in the bottom of the inning as Montgomery and Jackson both hit two-run home runs, putting them up 4-1.
In the fourth inning, Brent Cook and Green hit back-to-back RBI singles before Russo brought them both in on a three-run, inside-the-park homer. Mendoza then added an RBI double, extending the UH lead to 10-1.
Green drove in another run in the fifth before Montgomery blasted a grand slam over the centerfield wall, giving Hawai`i a 15-1 lead. Vulcan Nalei Sooto would add a homer in the top of the eighth inning while the Rainbows added three more runs in the bottom of the inning, putting the final score at 18-2.
UH will now head on their first road trip of the season as they play San Francisco at 2 p.m. on Mar. 5, then play a three game series with Fresno State from Mar. 7-9. Gametimes for the Fresno State series are listed at 6:35 p.m., 1:05 p.m. and 1:05 p.m.
