Hawai`i Falls to the Spartans 11-7

HONOLULU -- The UH Rainbow baseball team (8-17, 1-4 WAC) fell to the San Jose State Spartans (18-9, 4-4) 11-7 at the Les Murakami Stadium. Jahseam George (5-0) got the win while Will Quaglieri (2-3) was credited with the loss. The ticketed attendance for the game was 3,080.

San Jose State first got on the board in the second inning, scoring three runs, before the Rainbows responded with one run on a Brian Bock double in the third.

The Spartans then ran away with it as they scored one run in the fourth and seven runs in the fifth to go up 11-1. Hawai`i mounted a comeback in the sixth, getting five runs, but that and another run in the eighth weren't enough as the Rainbows ended up falling 11-7.

Gregg Omori had a good performance going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double, while Brent Cook added a 2-for-3 game with a run scored.

The two teams will end their conference series tomorrow with a 1:05 p.m. start time at the Les Murakami Stadium. Following the game, both teams will make a quick turnaround as they will both participate in the Ohana Hotels and Resorts Easter Tournament from March 25-31. UH will get their lone off day on Monday, March 25, while the Spartans will play through until their off day on Sunday, March 31.
