The Rainbow Warriors begin league play against the Mustangs, the team that ended UH's 2025 season in the Big West Championship on the way to securing the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. UH trails the all-time series vs. Cal Poly 34-17, dropping two of three in last year's series in San Luis Obispo.

DID YOU KNOW?
Hawai'i starting pitchers have combined to post a 2.26 ERA with 74 strikeouts to just 16 walks over 63.2 innings. Rainbow Warrior starters have worked at least five innings in eight of the 12 games and have delivered a quality start six times.
SHUT DOWN WEEKEND
The Hawai'i pitching staff is coming off of an incredible weekend on the mound, posting a 0.25 ERA with 46 strikeouts and only seven walks in 36.0 innings over four games vs. Ball State. UH got a trio of gems from its starting pitchers, with
Isaiah Magdaleno,
Hekili Robello and
Liam O'Brien each working at least seven innings and posting a combined 0.00 ERA in 23.1 innings with 27 strikeouts and six hits allowed.
TROPICAL SWARM
The Rainbow Warrior pitching staff heads into conference among the national leaders in a number of categories. UH is 10th in the country with a 2.54 ERA and ninth in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 3.76. The 'Bows also sit in the top 15 nationally in walks per nine innings (11th), WHIP (12th) and opponent batting average (22nd). Additionally, Hawai'i has held opponents to three or fewer runs in eight of the 12 games, and six or fewer hits six times.
LOCK DOWN BULLPEN
When UH has given itself a lead, it has been able to lean on a solid bullpen over the first two weeks of the season. The Rainbow Warriors are 7-0 when leading after six innings this year thanks to a number of key arms out of the bullpen.
Tsubasa Tomii,
Saul Soto and
John Alkire II, among others, have all proven to be strong options in the late innings to either keep UH in games or hold on to leads.
» Tomii is tied for the lead nationally with seven appearances and holds a 1.12 ERA and 12 strikeouts over eight innings pitched with just four hits allowed.
» Soto has a win and a save in four appearances with a 3.86 ERA over seven innings.
» Alkire II has finished off four of UH's eight wins and has two saves with a 0.00 ERA and seven strikeouts over 7.1 innings pitched with just three hits allowed.
»
Grant Garman has 10 strikeouts in 7.1 innings and
Jack Berg has not allowed a run in 4.1 innings.
7-8-9 IS 'BOW WARRIOR TIME
After a 2025 season that saw the Rainbow Warrior bats conjure up some late magic, the 'Bows have continued that trend into the new year. UH has won three games via go-ahead scoring plays in the eighth inning or later, including a pair of walk-off wins. Hawai'i walked off in the 10th inning on opening night when an error on an
Elijah Ickes bunt allowed the winning run to score. Ickes then scored on a wild pitch in the series finale vs. Gonzaga on Feb. 16 for a 4-3 win before
Kody Watanabe drove in the go-ahead run with an eighth-inning double to cap off a six-run comeback vs. Wichita State on Feb. 19.
LAST RIDE IN THE BIG WEST
Hawai'i will play its final season in the Big West in 2026 before joining the majority of the athletic department's other sports in the Mountain West starting in 2027. UH has been a part of the Big West since 2013, and heads into this final year in the conference with a record of 159-172 in league play over 14 years of membership. The Rainbow Warriors have enjoyed their best success in the Big West in recent years, finishing in the top four of the conference each of the last four seasons with a 73-47 record over that stretch.
