Biography

2002 (Senior): Played  110 sets...recorded 771 assists on the season with 47 kills and 94 digs...posted double figured in assists in all but two matches...has a season-high 43 assists vs. Fresno State (10/26).

2001 (Junior): Started the first three matches of the season at the setter position before moving to the right-side hitter position for the rest of the year…tallied a career-best 104 kills and started the last eight games at the RS position…she had her best match as a hitter vs. Nevada (10/28) when she posted nine kills, four blocks and a .619 hitting percentage…also played well in the home finale against Fresno State (11/9), when she had five kills, 21 assists, four digs and a .556 hitting percentage…named academic all-WAC.

2000 (Sophomore): Earned second team all-WAC honors…recorded nine double-doubles in assists and digs…averaged 12.92 assists and 2.48 digs per game…had a career-high 72 assists in the Wahine’s five-game win over Long Beach State in the NCAA Regionals (12/7).

1999 (Freshman): Started at setter in just her first season…named to all-WAC second team…posted nine double-doubles in assists and digs…averaged 11.62 assists and 2.38 digs per game…dished out season-high 63 assists and racked up 18 digs against USC (9/10)…season-high seven kills vs. Texas A&M (12/9) in NCAA Mountain Regional…directed team to a season-high .630 hitting percentage against Prairie View A&M (12/2) in NCAA first round match…put together 60-assist, 12-dig and eight-block performance at San Jose State (10/29)…first freshman to start the season at setter for the Wahine since Melinda Beckenhauer in 1985.

Prep: A 1999 graduate of Newport Harbor High School in Newport Beach, Calif.… named to the Volleyball magazine first team All-America list…named Gatorade West Region player of the year…directed her team to back-to-back California Interscholastic Federation Division Titles.

Personal: Born in Laguna Beach, Calif.…majoring in marketing…enjoys going to the beach, working out, rollerblading, reading and cooking…favorite athlete is professional tennis player Lindsay Davenport…other favorites include diet peach iced tea Snapple, actress Gwenyth Paltrow, entertainer Madonna and the movie “Dirty Dancing”…chose UH over Penn State, UCLA and Texas A&M…has one brother, George II, and a sister, Bryana…parents are Becky and George Carey of Newport Beach, Calif.
