2006: Played in 96 games, starting all 28 matches...led team with 381 kills and a .371 attack percentage, while hitting 3.97 kills per game...also led team in service aces with 28...had a season-high 23 kills at UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 14...recorded double figure kills in 22 of 28 matches, including two streaks of six double figure kill matches...averaged 1.03 blocks and 1.61 digs per game...received first team all-MPSF and AVCA All-American honors.

2005: Played in 43 games in 18 matches, making six starts...averaged almost one dig per game, while slamming down 1.86 kills per game...made only four reception errors in 256 total chances...posted three 10 kill performances at UC Irvine (Jan. 28) and USC (Feb. 17-18)...had a season-high seven digs against UC Santa Barbara April 2.

Prep: A 2001 graduate of Pieksamaen Lukio in Pieksamaki, Finland...led volleyball team to the 2001 Finnish High School championship...later went on to lead Junior club team to the 2003 championship...won the 1997, '01, '02, '03, and '04 Finnish Junior Beach Volleyball Championships.

Personal: Born Aug. 23, 1982, in Kuusamo, Finland...majoring in pre-business...his favorite spot on campus is the Stan Sheriff Center...other favorites include Yugoslavian volleyball player Vladimir Grbic, the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the musical group Dire Straits...has two brothers, Anssi and Juhani...parents are Eila and Tauno Hakala of Pieksamaki, Finland.
