Biography

2006 (Senior): Started all 14 games at defensive end…a first-team all-WAC selection…led all defensive linemen with 60 tackles (36 solo)…led the team with 15.5 tackles for loss (-47) and 9.5 sacks (-39)…also led the team with 16 quarterback hurries and forced four total fumbles, two at New Mexico State (Oct. 21) and one each at Fresno State (Oct. 14) and against San Jose State (Nov. 18).

2005 (Junior): Played in 10 games, started eight at defensive end...a second-team all-WAC selection...hampered by an elbow injury for most of the season...finished with 34 tackles (21 solo)...recorded a season-high seven tackles at Nevada (Nov. 5)...recovered a fumble against Boise State (Oct. 1)...also recovered a fumble which led to a touchdown against San Diego State (Dec. 3)...recipient of the Ben Yee Most Inspirational Player Award.

2004 (Sophomore): An honorable mention all-WAC selection...played in all 13 games...started 12...hampered by a chest injury...finished third on the team, first among defensive linemen, with 74 tackles (47 solo)...led all Warriors and ranked sixth in the WAC with 15.5 tackles-for-loss (-71) and six sacks (-49)...also led the team with eight quarterback hurries...forced a fumble that led to a touchdown at Rice (Sept. 18)...blocked a PAT attempt against Louisiana Tech (Nov. 6) and another against UAB in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl (Dec. 24)...also had four PBUs...team's Warrior Club Award-winner.

2003 (Freshman): Played in 11 games at defensive end...missed three games due to an injured elbow...finished with 40 tackles (23 solo), including five for-a-loss (-24) and 3.5 sacks (-22)...finished second on the team with nine quarterback hurries...recorded at least one tackle in 10 of 11 games...had seven tackles, two for-a-loss (-7) and one sack (-5) in first career start at Louisiana Tech (Oct. 18)...posted a career-high 12 tackles, two sacks (-14) and three quarterback hurries in win over UTEP (Oct. 25)...named WAC Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 27).

2002: Sat out in order to meet the year residency requirement for eligibility.

Prep: A 2002 graduate of Leone High School in Leone, American Samoa...played three positions, including defensive end, wide receiver and tight end...a three-time all-star...named a Samoan International first-team all-star...also participated in basketball, volleyball and track and field...competed in the high jump and long jump in track...earned MVP and all-star honors in basketball...regarded as the best athlete coming out of Samoa his senior year.

Personal: Born in Pago Pago, American Samoa...cousin of former Warrior and San Diego Charger Alvis Satele and current teammates Hercules and Samson Satele...has two brothers and two sisters...parents are Sauimoana Majorie and Melila Merrill Purcell of Pago Pago, American Samoa.
