2018 (Senior): One of three Rainbow Wahine to start all 50 games—all in centerfield…overall hit .247 for the season (38-for-154)…scored 19 runs with two doubles and eight RBI…recorded one sacrifice fly and three sacrifice bunts…was 2-for-4 in stolen bases…had nine multiple-hit games…tied career-highs with three hits each at UC Santa Barbara (4/13) and at UC Davis (5/12)…recorded 55 putouts and six assists with just one error on defense for a .981 fielding percentage…in conference, led UH with a .348 batting average (24-for-69) with a team-high 24 hits and nine runs in conference…hit safely in 15-of-21 conference games—including in the last eight of nine games of the season to finish her collegiate career strong…earned Big West Academic All-Conference honors.
2017 (Junior): Appeared and started in 49 games...was the leadoff hitter for the 'Bows in all 49 games she played in...was second on the team with an overall batting average of .323 (51-for-158)...was tied for second on the team with 26 runs scored and third on the squad with 51 hits...tied for the team lead with seven stolen bases...ended the season with four doubles, one triple, nine RBI, and ten walks…with three hits against San José State (Feb.17) and Idaho State (Feb. 19)…in conference, hit .328 (20-for-61) scoring a team-high 10 runs (tied with two othes)...did not commit an error with 40 putouts and one assist in centerfield…earned Big West honorable mention honors.
Prior to UH: Played two seasons at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.… as a sophomore, she appeared in 47 games with 11 starts in the outfield… recorded a batting average of .214 with 17 runs scored with three stolen bases … as a freshman, she appeared in 45 games with 21 starts in the outfield… recorded an average of .190 with eight hits and one RBI… also scored 18 runs and stole three bases
Prep: A 2014 graduate of La Serna High School in Wittier, Calif…hit .387 her senior year with 43 hits…drove in 18 runs, scored 28 runs, and had seven doubles and one triple… recorded a .431 batting average as a junior with 44 hits while scoring 28 runs with 24 RBIs, six doubles and one home run… she helped the Lancers to three straight league titles… in 2013, she was named to the Division 3 all-state first team, and was voted league MVP and the La Serna High Best All-Around Player.
Personal: Born in Whittier, Calif… nickname is “Dani”… intends to major in political science with a minor in English… has one older brother… parents are Kathleen and Mario Garcielita...mother Kathleen (Rodriguez) Garcielita grew up and played softball at Waipahu HS and was a four-year starting pitcher for Whittier College where she was inducted to their Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998.
