2018 (Senior): Played in all 27 matches with 26 starts at setter...led UH with 652 assists while averaging 6.39 assists per set...was second on the team with 29 service aces...also recorded 219 digs...dished out a career-high 36 assists against Portland (9/7/18)...twice posted a career-high 16 digs against Oregon (9/13/18) and at UC Santa Barbara (10/5/18)...stymied the Titans at Cal State Fullerton (10/20/18) with a career-high six service aces...had nine double-doubles in her senior season....earned UH Scholar-Athlete honors.
2017 (Junior): Appeared in 18 matches and played in 39 sets as a defensive specialist and setter…recorded her first career double-double in UH’s NCAA first round match vs. Illinois (12/1) with career-highs in both assists (29) and digs (14)…recorded a career-high three service aces at UC Irvine (11/18/17).
2016: Redshirted due to NCAA transfer rules.
Prior To UH: Played two seasons (2014-15) at Southern Utah…as a freshman in 2014, started all 29 matches for the Thuderbirds and led SUU with 1,147 assists while finishing third on the team with 275 digs (2.5 d/set)…set the Southern Utah all-time record with 63 assists against Idaho…recorded career highs of 21 digs against Idaho and four service aces vs. Grand Canyon…in her sophomore season, lead SUU with 756 assists and was third on the team with 213 digs…for her two year Thunderbird career, tallied 1,903 assists, 488 digs, 101 kills and 83 total blocks.
Prep: A 2014 graduate of Kamehameha Schools—Kapalama in Honolulu, O‘ahu…bookended her prep career helping the Warriors win a state championship titles as a freshman in 2010 and a senior in ‘13…was a member of the National Honor Society and was on the school’s honor roll.
Personal: Born in Denver, Colo….played for two seasons for the ‘Imi ‘Ike Volleyball Club...majoring in elementary education/behavioral assistance…has one older sister and two older brothers…older sister Jazmine also played for two seasons (2009-10) at Southern Utah…her uncle, Chris Fuamatu-Ma‘afala played football at the University of Utah and later played in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers (1998-2002) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2003-04)…parents are Benson and Caroline Ma‘afala of Kapolei, O‘ahu…father Benson played for the Rainbow Warrior football team in 1985.
